How Air Conditioning Works
Modern air-conditioning systems can provide highly efficient cooling and heating from one discreet system. Scroll to follow the cycle.
The indoor unit quietly draws warm room air across a heat-exchange coil.
Heat passes into the refrigerant circuit, a sealed loop connecting the indoor and outdoor units.
The outdoor condenser rejects the collected heat to the outside air.
Cooled, filtered air returns to the room in a gentle, draught-free pattern.
In winter the cycle runs in reverse, drawing heat from the outside air to warm the room with remarkable efficiency.
Bedroom Comfort
Quiet operation, accurate temperature control and programmable settings create a more comfortable sleeping environment during warm nights.
Commercial Air Conditioning
BLUE DEGREE provides air-conditioning solutions for offices, retail spaces, restaurants, studios and other commercial environments. Systems are designed around occupancy, operating hours, heat loads, interior layout and energy efficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Modern inverter systems are designed for exactly the conditions UK homes now experience: increasingly warm summers, highly glazed extensions and well-insulated rooms that hold heat. The same system also provides highly efficient heating in winter.
Yes. Almost every system we install is a heat pump, providing efficient heating as well as cooling from one discreet unit, often at a lower running cost than conventional electric heating.
Very quiet. Premium indoor units operate from around 19–26 dB(A) on low settings, quieter than a whisper. We select low-noise outdoor units and position them carefully to protect both your rooms and your neighbours.
Most domestic installations fall under permitted development, subject to conditions on the position and size of the outdoor unit. Listed buildings and some flats need consent. We advise on this during the survey.
Typically at ground level on a discreet base, on a flat roof, or wall-mounted on brackets. We choose a location that balances performance, noise, access for servicing and the appearance of the property.
Yes. Wherever possible we route pipework internally, within voids or neatly boxed, and use colour-matched trunking externally. Concealment is planned at the design stage, not improvised on the day.
A single-room system is usually installed in one day. Multi-room systems typically take two to three days depending on pipe routes and the number of indoor units.
An annual service keeps the system efficient, hygienic and within manufacturer warranty terms. We offer straightforward servicing plans for both homes and businesses.
Yes. A multi-split system connects several indoor units to a single outdoor condenser, with independent control in each room. This is ideal where outside space is limited.
Modern inverter systems are highly efficient: for every kilowatt of electricity consumed they typically deliver three to five kilowatts of cooling or heating. Running costs for a bedroom system are usually pence per hour.
Bedrooms are one of our most requested installations. We specify low-noise units with night modes and position them for gentle, draught-free airflow over the sleeping area.
Yes. We design and install systems for offices, retail, restaurants, studios and other commercial environments, including ceiling cassettes, concealed ducted systems and multi-split installations.
